The visual language of Hermissenda draws from the coastal waters of Southern California: sand, kelp, ocean light, and the remarkable colors of the animal itself.

A project in practice.
Elena came into a peer coaching circle near the end of her doctoral program with only a few months left to finish and defend her dissertation. The project was urgent, and she already seemed resigned to failure.
The coaching began with the project, but quickly moved to a deeper question: who was she in this work? What became clear was that her voice still carried the being of someone expecting defeat.
Eventually, the conversation brought forth a declaration:

From that point, everything moved.
